Gorakhpur: A doctor stationed at the Khorabar Primary Health Center (PHC) and his associate were arrested by the police on Sunday and sent to jail on charges of selling fake medical degrees. Dr. Rajesh Kumar, a resident of Awas Vikas Colony in the AIIMS area, and his associate Sushil Kumar Chaudhary, a resident of Pathan Tola in Khalilabad Kotwali police station, Sant Kabir Nagar district, were found in possession of 21 fake MBBS, BMS, and D.Pharma degrees and four mobile phones.
The recovered degrees were made in the names of universities in Meerut, Moradabad, Karnataka, Punjab, Rajasthan, and Chhattisgarh. According to the police, the accused doctor, in collaboration with a large gang, took contracts to create fake degrees.
SSP Dr. Gaurav Grover exposed the doctor’s actions, stating that Surya Pratap Singh, a resident of Lohra in Uruwa Bazar, had filed a case against Dr. Rajesh in September 2024, accusing him of selling fake degrees.
Surya Pratap told the police that he was introduced to Dr. Rajesh on November 20, 2022. He alleged that the doctor took ₹80,000 in the name of getting him admitted to D.Pharma at a college in Shikohabad, belonging to his acquaintance.
Then, on March 13, 2023, he gave him an admit card and result, claiming that he had passed. Upon suspicion, on September 8, 2023, he checked the result at JS University in Shikohabad and found it to be fake.
The Gulriha police started an investigation, revealing Dr. Rajesh’s fraudulent activities. According to the police, Dr. Rajesh, along with his associate Sushil Kumar Chaudhary, would trap unemployed youth. They would take contracts to create fake degrees for them by promising good jobs in the medical field.
Doctor Made Fake MBBS Degree for Himself
Dr. Rajesh Kumar was working with an AYUSH degree. Additionally, he had created a fake MBBS degree from Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences in Karnataka. Three degrees from this university were found in his possession.
