Women’s Day Event at NER: Marking International Women’s Day, women railway employees across the Indian Railways network are showcasing their exceptional service and dedication. Today, women are successfully working as loco pilots, guards, signalers, ticket checkers, and in other technical positions, playing a pivotal role in the smooth functioning of the railways.
Soumya Mathur, General Manager of North Eastern Railway, inspected the Route Relay Interlocking Panel installed at Gorakhpur Station Yard on March 8. During her visit, she met with women railway employees – RRI Supervisor (Station Master), Area Controller, Panel Operator, Junior Engineer/Signal, ESM, Block Operator, Train Clerk, and Assistant – and appreciated their work processes and technical expertise.
Encouraging the women railway employees, General Manager Mathur said, “All of you have achieved this milestone through your dedication and hard work. You are all an inspiration, and we need to show that women can be successful in any field. We should work in a way that inspires young girls to chase their dreams and have the courage to fulfill their aspirations.”
On the occasion of Women’s Day, women railway employees operated various trains. On March 8, women railway employees took charge of Train No. 15105 Chhapra-Nautanwa Express as Train Manager, Assistant Loco Pilot, Train Escort, and Ticket Examiner from Gorakhpur. Similarly, a woman railway employee was also deployed as Station Master/Indoor at Gorakhpur Junction Station.
In the Lucknow Division, a goods train was operated from Aishbagh Station to Gonda by women employees. Women efficiently operated the train as Loco Pilot, Assistant Loco Pilot, and Train Manager. Badshahnagar Station was also successfully managed by women railway employees as Station Master, Commercial Clerk, and Railway Protection Force personnel.
